Reflections on 2025 and Hopes for 2026

For the past three years I have chosen to spend time in reflection in December. It has become an incredibly meaningful practice for me.
I go back through my calendar for the entire year and write down everything I did. I go back through my journals and write down things that happened. I highlight what I'm proud of, star what I want to do more of the next year and truly allow myself to marinate in the good things that happened that year.
It's a practice of gratitude and celebration that I look forward to!
I did my 2025 reflection session yesterday.
For many of us, 2025 was a challenging year. In the USA people seemed to be increasingly divided along political lines, things seem much more expensive in every sector, and in Chicago people were getting snatched off the streets and held in detention centers for not being caucasian.
So, reading the news (at least the news I generally read) it seems that 2025 was a terrible year.
But...
In reflecting on my personal experience of life this year there was also so much beauty!
I made new friends, learned amazing new things and worked with awesome new (and long-time) clients in meaningful ways.
I was able to go on a family roadtrip through an area of the country I had never been before (and fell in love with upstate New York).
I learned about KPop and Anime from my daughters.
We welcomed a new nephew and mourned the passing of friends.
As I reflected on this year full of ups and downs a few things became increasingly clear to me:
💚 I have so much to be thankful for.
💚 There are a precious few things that I truly want to prioritize.
💚 Social media and obsessing over the news take me away from focusing on what is most important.
So, as we celebrate the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, I have chosen to take a significant break from all forms of social media as well as the hype-cycle of online news. (If you really want to make sure I am up to date on something, feel free to reach out and tell me all about it!)
Instead, I will be using my precious time and energy to be present with real people in real life.
For 2026 I hope for health and continued healing, movement and deep rest, love and true connection... for you, me and all our neighbors. 💚
